# Google Drive Overview

## How it works

The Google Drive connector indexes documents stored in your Drive. It currently supports the following file types:

* **Google formats:** Docs, Sheets, and Slides
* **Microsoft formats:** Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* **Other formats:** PDF, CSV, TXT, and a range of other document, plaintext, and image files

## Setting Up

Please note that this connector requires a few setup steps. Choose the approach that best fits your situation:

* **\[Recommended] Service Account setup** — Ideal for organizations with a business Google Workspace and access to the Admin panel. If you meet these requirements, this is generally the preferred approach. Follow the Service Account setup guide to get started.
* **Individual OAuth setup** — Suitable for those without a business Google Workspace. This method uses an individual account to authorize access. Follow the OAuth setup guide for instructions.
