# File

## How it Works

The File Connector indexes files uploaded directly by users. It currently supports the following file types: `.txt`, `.pdf`, `.docx`, `.pptx`, `.xlsx`, `.csv`, `.md`, `.mdx`, `.conf`, `.log`, `.json`, `.tsv`, `.xml`, `.yml`, `.yaml`, `.eml`, and `.epub`. You can also upload a `.zip` archive containing these file types any unsupported file types within the zip will simply be ignored.

## Setting Up

### Authorization

* No external authentication is required.
* Admins can upload files and make them available to all users.

## Indexing

1. **Open the File Connector**
   Go to the Admin Panel and select the File Connector.
2. **Upload Your File**
   Select a supported file or a `.zip` archive and click Upload to begin indexing your content in ASSIST AI.
